“The crosses we bare” aims to document the scars of Northern Ireland’s past.

Tracing back my family's northern Irish routes, I hope to document the changes that have taken place since my mother's time there. Growing up, I was constantly exposed to stories of conflict, which painted a picture of the region as a place marked by violence.

My project will involve portraying individuals from diverse backgrounds across Northern Ireland, showcasing the variety of beliefs, identities, and experiences within this small part of Ireland. In addition, I intend to provide insights into the evolving social landscape following the signing of the Good Friday Agreement 30 years ago.

The project seeks to present a comprehensive view of Northern Ireland's history and the social challenges it has faced, largely as a result of British rule. Furthermore, it aims to explore the contemporary identity of Northern Ireland, focusing on the perspectives of the younger generation and those who advocate for peace and the healing of historical wounds.
